Overview

What: A prescription is a formalized plan for administering one or more medications to pigs exhibiting symptoms or diagnosed diseases.

When: When health anomalies have been marked and the pigs appear on Diagnosis & Treatment.

Performed by: Farm Manager or Veterinarian.

Prerequisites

• Pigs with logged symptoms or diseases appear on the Diagnosis & Treatment page.

How to Create a Prescription

Follow these steps to create a new prescription in Sentri:

Step 1: Navigate to the Diagnosis & Treatment page

Navigate to: Health Management > Diagnosis & Treatment

Step 2: Select pigs

Use filters or search to locate the pigs you want to treat. Check the box next to each pig.

• Selecting multiple symptoms/diseases (like “coughing” and “fever”) will show pigs that have any of the symptoms you picked, not just all of them.

Step 3: Click Create Prescription

The Create Prescription button appears in the upper-right corner.

Step 4: Set Medications or Recall Past Prescriptions

You can either create a new prescription from scratch or reuse past prescriptions.

• Option 1 — Create New Medications:

  • Medication name & brand (e.g., “Aspirin (Bayer powder)”)
  • Administration method (e.g., “Mixed into drinking water”)
  • Dosage (amount and unit)
  • Schedule (start date, number of doses, interval between doses)

  Note: A summary appears:

  “This plan will follow {administration method}, applying {dosage} {unit} of {medication}{ (brand)} starting {start date}, {doses} time(s){, every {interval} {interval unit}}.”

• Option 2 — Recall Past Prescription:

  • View a list of past prescriptions and select one to reuse.
  • Note: Reusing a past prescription will remove any new entries in this form.

Step 5: Review

On the review page you can:

• Pig assignments: Add or remove pigs as needed.
• Targeted diseases/symptoms (optional): Select which anomalies to address—helps Sentri learn medication–condition relations.
• Prescription notes (optional): Add any special instructions.

Step 6: Submit

Click on submit on the lower right corner of the page.

What Happens Next

When you submit the prescription:

• It appears in the Prescriptions list with status Not Started.
